I installed from scratch with one of the daily DVDs around the time the final
Colony was released.
When I log into Gnome, there are no files in /var/run/dbus which leads me to
believe that dbus and
HAL never get started. There are no dbus-related scripts in /etc/rc2.d/ , or in
any of the other
rc directories excluding rcS.d. I am using dbus version 0.36.2-0ubuntu2 and have
tried reinstalling
it and all dependent packages using aptitude.
