I'm getting no networking. 
 
Quick catch-up from ubuntu-devel email:

 (yes it is, both cat5 and wifi point at my router, which is serving dhcp) 
tried again. nogo. 
 went manual... 192.168.1.10/tux all resources pointing at router 192.168.1.1 
(didn't work... more on that later)

This is the ethernet chip, which probably explains why you have no network.

This may be due to my having a pci wifi card also, but prolly not. 
I'm using a motherboard with a intigrated 10/100 nic, intel 845gv chipset.
