"full speed" is correct, that means 12MBit/sec, as defined by USB 1.1:
[4543236.754000] usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
However, your kernel seems to have trouble with the device:
[4543726.972000] scsi5 (0:0): rejecting I/O to dead device
[4543726.972000] FAT: Directory bread(block 95400) failed
which is repeated over and over again. Does this work with a different USB device?
