Summary: nautilus horribly inefficient when querying properties
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: nautilus
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: msoulier at digitaltorque.ca
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

I just tried to pop up the properties tab in nautilus on a 500Meg VOB file. It
chewed-up 90% of my cpu for about two minutes until finally telling me things
that a basic stat() library call should provide. I don't see why the file size
should matter, but it apparently does because I did the same with a 2k file
instantly.

It shouldn't have to read the entire file just to give you permissions,
ownership, etc.
