[Bug 18365] Totem does not allow some episodes to be played on DVD main menu

OK, I'm trying to move this forward on another computer.  I have followed the
RestrictedFormats HOWTO on the Wiki up to and including:-

  sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.8-plugins gstreamer0.8-plugins-multiverse
gstreamer0.8-ffmpeg

when I try to play the DVD I get the multilingual copyright notices and then
theh following message:-

  An error occurred : Error invoking "dvdnav_get_next_block": Error reading from
DVD ..

I think this is what happened previously and I then went on to install the W32
codecs, but isn't this going to switch it over from Totem-gstreamer to Totem-xine?

Please advise what you want me to do next.
