Is there anything of note about the filesystem you have the branch on?
Bazaar seems to have been particularly effective at tickling bugs in
NFS implementations, for instance.

Using strace isn't particularly enlightening with Python, but can give
clues at least. Confirming if the process hogging the cpu is the main
explorer one or a bzr worker would also be useful. Probably you'd be
better off filing a new bug for your case as there doesn't seem to be
clear evidence the underlying cause is the same.
