But that would leave a lot of `_()` in the source code, replacing the
alias with some different one would not really help. If one put _i18n()
everywhere, there was no problem, just that it was not the usual alias
for gettext.

The underscore in _i18n() suggests that it is a private field, but that
is not really true I think.

What about gtext() and ngtext()? That is different from the originals,
shorter, and easy to understand (both regular and plural).

One could of course use just gettext() and ngettext(), these could be
imported to the local namespace.
