Thank you for the interesting link, Phillippe.  I also think this is
extremely cool from the same people:
http://codicesoftware.blogspot.com/2010/07/move-support-in-diff.html for
detecting moved *and* modified code within a file.  This is strictly
speaking outside version control but it could an "associated killer app".  I
fear to think how it would scale (or collapse) for complex code, but for
simple cases it seems to work pretty nicely.
