Packaging plugins -- bzr-bookmarks

I find the bookmarks plugin almost impossible to live without, so
either:

1. I am missing some standard technique that allows me to have multiple
named remote branches as part of a peer network à la Git, Mercurial; or

2. bzr-bookmarks really ought to get into the standard Ubuntu and
Debian distributions.

Thanks.
