It's not an analogy, it's an exact statement. A VCS is a special-
purpose database, nothing more and nothing less.
As far as how it affects my understanding of Bazaar's database in
particular, if Robert says the "one writer, no readers" dirstate lock
is a fixable bug, I'm sure it is. That should go a long way to
alleviating Eli's pain.
However, given Robert's statement that he has proposed a patch and
gotten zero feedback, I guess that there hasn't been any because there
are other reasons for avoiding a bound branch workflow on a high
latency network in a high frequency workflow. We'll see when it gets
fixed, though.
