That would be good but it doesn't need to be next.

I think for something that's meant to help people get bootstrapped
having it in the main tree would be highly worthwhile.  It's true we
can do dpkg-level Recommends or ship it in the Win32 installer, but
people will install from source and should get this.  So I'd like it
as a shipped plugin.
