Yes, it works! Many thanks for the information (which should be somewhere in the docs of 
LP, IMO).

For some reason, FileZilla rejects that syntax for a path, but WinSCP accepts it and 
deleted the backup.bzr directory without problem.

And after that, the upgrade of Lua was smooth and fast.
