Improved now.

I think this text needs changing. It ought to list more platforms
explicitly (e.g. Ubuntu/Debian) and link directly from each one to the
platform-specific download page.

I also think the reference to Python could be removed altogether at this
level. Currently, it indirectly implies users need to install Python
when it's bundled in the Windows installer and already there in a
suitable version in 90% of other major OS platforms. Does anyone think
we need to mention Python 2.4 here?

For the record, it's "Python 2.4 to 2.6". Python 2.7 may work. Python
3.x won't.
