Confused about versions ... 1.17, 1.18rc1, 2.0rc1

Hi there,

I've been waiting for 1.18 to come out for a little while, but it seems 
to have stalled.   It's been up there for almost a month now.

All the focus seems to be getting the 2.0 release out the door (which is 
great), but does that mean there isn't going to be a 1.18?    Is there 
much difference between 1.18 and 2.0 (apart from changing the new format)?
