I understand that.  My point is that with an OpenID, you'll be able to
ask your question, reply to an email, and then forget all about your
Launchpad account.

I realize that there is an account there, but who cares?

Maybe not.  It is on all mailing lists I run, though (non-members are
moderated, and that typically costs them a lot more time than
subscribing would).
