For just authentication you should also be able to use Kerberos if you
are in an AD environment. Bazaar supports accessing branches over
Kerberized HTTP, FTP and SFTP/SSH (since it's supported by OpenSSH).
Of course, you might still need LDAP in other places (e.g. for
authorization).
