[MERGE] Hide the transport direction in the progress bar if it is unknown.

We're still showing the amount of data that's being transferred, so the
user is aware something is happening already. I don't think there is a
particular value in showing we don't know something. Similarly we aren't
showing three question marks in case there is no transfer information.
