This hardly lists all possibilities. In this same thread, an example
was mentioned:

I'm somewhat opposed to dev-formats in *stable* releases, because I
think they belong in development or beta releases.

I'm more opposed to delaying a scheduled stable release to introduce
beta-quality software (the very fact that the release has to be
delayed speaks volumes about the state of the beta software).

That's would be an argument in favor of having regularly scheduled
development builds.

But I've already talked too much. I only wanted to add my voice to the
not-in-a-stable-release crowd. I'll re-lurk now.
