Pithy answer to "Why set a public branch?"

Hello,
I recently blogged[1] about the launchpad-open command, and have since
received two bug reports (Blogger is the new Launchpad!). Both of them
relate to not having public branch locations set.
Can someone hit me up with a short, punchy answer to the question "Why
should I bother setting public branch locations?". Right now, the only
thing I can think of is that it means I can configure a local submit:
location that still works with 'bzr send' and PQM. This is not a
punchy answer, fwiw.
cheers,
jml
