Recommended use of Bazaar for single-committer multiple-machine projects?

It was my situation until this year.  I used branches, instead of
checkouts.  I had a central server that I would push to and pull from.
Occasionally, I would forget to push my changes to the central server,
but all I had to do to get back in sync was run "merge".
