It is unfortunate that disagreement led to inaction.
Git shows all changes with all paths relative to '.'. This works for
me. Bazaar's insistence of showing paths from the branch root is an
annoyance.
Showing all changes tells you more. Also there is a possibility of
there being a requirement to commit files not in the subtree below '.'
as part of a commit rooted at '.' so restricting the status is
restricting use cases. Hence, personally, I don't see how there can be
violent disagreement, but then I wasn't there.
