A google search of:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=python-central+python-support

gives
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianPython/NewPolicy
and
http://help.lockergnome.com/linux/central-support-ftopict355948.html

Basically, dapper uses python-central for managing python packages, and edgy+
uses python-support. I don't know where that corresponds in terms of debian
releases.
