[MERGE] More debugging for deprecated functions

This was helpful when trying to figure out why I was getting some
deprecation warnings (specifically bzr-loom uses the deprecated get/put
functions.)
I can't import trace at the top of the module, because there seems to be
an import cycle if I do. If it really matters, I suppose I could use a
lazy import.
Anyway, just a quick patch I found useful. We *could* print these to the
screen, but I think that would give a *lot* more clutter for minimal
gain. Unless we wanted to only do that with -Derror or something.
