I tried to figure out a way.  See this bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105909

I was not able to solve it, though I'm sure a Firefox developer should
be able to add a preferences option that causes FF to skip the
unescaping of the URL in the location bar.
