Hi there. Maybe the last announcement of today! I've confirmed with all
parties involved the times for the different Hardy upgrades that will
affect us. The main change is moving Soyuz upgrades one week forwards,
and including here information on vostok and macquarie.
They are as follows:
1. Thursday or Friday, June 18 or 19
Non-user-visible
Upgrade of macquarie
Currently macquarie runs our librarian Apache front-end, and
that's going to be moved across to vanadium -- James and Herb
will do that work first.
macquarie also runs the authserver, but there's a plan to do
this transparently via a DNS switcheroo to a backup machine
during the upgrade. Nothing should be affected.
2. Next Tuesday, June 17, 22:00 UTC
User-visible, 5h upgrade window
Upgrade of our Apache front-end, script runner and the production
Librarian
(vanadium, forster, mizuho)
This implies downtime for pretty much everything, because of the
Librarian. Total ETA is again 5 hours.
3. Next Wednesday, June 18, 22:00 UTC
User-visible, 2h upgrade window
Upgrade of vostok, our codehosting server.
Loggerhead, branch pushing and pulling operations for
Launchpad-hosted code won't work during this upgrade.
4. Next Thursday, June 19, 22:00 UTC
User-visible, 5h upgrade window
Upgrade of soyuz-related servers
(cesium, drescher, germanium)
This implies downtime for the distribution team and PPAs -- no
source package uploads, builds, or publishing of changes to
archive.ubuntu.com or PPA archives.
