I'm saying that your passing comment strikes me as wrong.  I don't think
we *do* want to drop support for dumb http in the future, though I can
see that disabling for particular repositories would a good tradeoff for
users who want lockless support.

Yes, this discussion has almost nothing to do with your patch.  It's
about the comment in it.
