I haven't read the code yet - it looks like it has been sufficiently
reviewed at a technical level, but people just aren't sure if it's a
good idea or not.  If it would be useful for me to read it, I will.

If we are stuck, my casting vote is for what John says here - that
showing them indented is a waste of space, but/and they should have
the dotted revnos if from the point of view of this branch they are
not mainline.
