Thanks for the excellent summary!  That will get me
started.  My main goal is to not have to give a system
account to each committer, so http and/or webdav would be
adequate for that purpose.

(gopher, hee hee!  :)  Well, I might try something
rpc-style in the future, like xmlrpc or one of the twisted
remote protocols (probably foolscap, if anything, with
the new copyable stuff, etc.) ... but I don't have time
to do much on that for a couple months, probably.
