But when you create a new file with the editor you need to tell it what
line ending style to use. If I create a .sh file on windows (even in an
editor that behaves as above) it has no line ending style to go on as
the file does not exist yet. So the editor needs to support file name
patterns to line ending style for newly created files. I don't use (in
fact know of) any editor that does this.
