I take it your concern is about test suite performance? 

I think that for this one test, its not parameterised, so its a flat
cost, and its a very small branch, so I dont mind either way.

I would /prefer/ though to see it do 
init v6
corrupt the v6 working tree data
upgrade it

+1 on the rest from me too.
