I agree with you. But I think we want to be careful about how many
repository formats we go through. At least the way we have it defined so
far, is that a given repository format has only one serialization present.
Anyway, it was just an opportunity that if we are going to cause a
format bump, we may want to look into all the things that we want to
bump, so we don't bump too many times.
I wasn't saying that he needs to work on the split format. But that we
might want to keep it in mind before we merge an official format bump
into mainline.
