[PATCH] automatic upgrade to lockdir

Those, like me, eagerly tracking bzr.dev and playing with the latest
repository shininess might have noticed that metadir has recently
switched from lockfile locking to lockdir locking without (apparently)
providing any transition support.

As a result, I get plenty of FileExists errors when the lockdir code
tries to mkdir within the existing lockfile. The following patch catches
that error and tries (with minimal checks) to upgrade the lockfile to
lockdir.
