I discovered (just as I was about to leave the office!) some test  
suite breakage when both http transports are installed.  Some aspects  
of TransportTestProviderAdapter are a bit hardcoded towards the  
particular providers that are present, or towards there being only  
one transport for the test.  I've fixed those up now, as shown below  
(diff from previously submitted version; context diff because  
otherwise some of it is hard to read)
