It hasn't gone, but when it does go in, it won't affect the appearance
of the revision XML.  The only escaping done there will be utf-8
encoding and entity references, i.e. run-of-the-mill XML.  I don't seen
the need for another layer of escaping.  You should be able to get a
unicode UI from an XML attribute, and retrieve it from the store.
