This is getting way off-topic but:
If you scan the wikipedia entries for English & American English (I
got really bored on the train a few weeks ago), it turns out that the
pronunciation of American English is closer to the original than the
UK, which changed their pronunciation of (for example) "a" post-
coloniZation.
So I say to Scott: You poseurs, following fads... ;)

PS. I think the arcane spelling of English is probably one of the
least important things we could be discussing. ;) As long as we use
good grammar and spellings that are generally accepted *somewhere*, I
think things will work out.
