The AppArmor development team is pleased to announce the 2.8 beta2
of the AppArmor user space components.

The user space of the release is available from
  https://launchpad.net/apparmor/master/2.8.beta2/+download/apparmor-2.7.100.tar.gz
  md5sum 9e3f5f650a88e62764fd8d7b3d83784b

A detached gnupg signature is available at
  https://launchpad.net/apparmor/master/2.8.beta2/+download/apparmor-2.7.100.tar.gz.asc

which should indicate it was signed with the my signing key (john.johansen at canonical.com)
having the fingerprint

The kernel components of this release have been pushed to
  git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jj/linux-apparmor.git/

  aa-next branch

  The kernel components are only required if you plan to use mount rules


The beta1 release was never announced as it ended up have some severe problems.  If you
downloaded it and are using it please update immediately.


The release notes have not been added to the wiki at this time, but here is a quick overview
of the changes.

* the features file has been converted to a directory
* profiles have been defaulted to chroot relative instead of namespace relative
* improvements to state minimization has been made in the compiler
* improvements in the compilers run time memory foot print, this can be particularly see
  with large profiles.
* rules to control mount operations have been added
* file rules now can be preceded with the file keyword
* capability rules can now have several capabilities specified in one rule
* there have been several improvements to shipped policy
* there have been numerous other bug fixes
