Hi All,

Please i need urgent help on installing KDE desktop on my ubuntu machine. I have all the CDs, Kubuntu, Mythbuntu, Ubuntu Desktop, Server, Xbuntu, etc.but it seems adding kde desktop using them is beyond my knowledge.

I issue these commands;

sudo mount /dev/cdrom
sudo apt-get install kde-core

etc, but it's taken over 24 hours downloading the files from the Internet on my slow link. There should be a way to install directly from cd without needing the Internet, pls help.

David

Thanks for this report. Have you filed a bug in Launchpad.net with this
information? Can you also include which hardware is used on the clients,
the output of dmesg from the clients would be useful if you can get it.

Would these displays have to display the same information, or different
slideshows?

Perhaps you mean PCI or AGP slots? ISA cards aren't supported in many
Linux distributions. ISA slots are those big old black slots (picture on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industry_Standard_Architecture).

I've read previously that if you want to have unique content on each
display, you can only go up to 2. I think that you'll be able to get a
cloned output with 3 displays with the tool that is available from the
Preferences menu (Labeled Screen Resolution). Do you already have the
hardware?

Hello
Until the end of August I used Gutsy 7.10 at school, but now in
September I wanted to change the classroom system to the new edition Hardy.

I didn?t upgrade, I wanted a complete new installation on my server. So
I worked with two test clients at home and noticed a strange behaviour.
The server worked very very slowly at some times, there was no chance to
work as admin on the server. It was during boot process of the clients.
But I didn?t want to notice it .......

But now at school (9 clients) the freezing process has the result, that
only two clients reached the status of ldm screen. The others had no
contact to the dhcp3-server ....

So I tried at home
stopping and starting the dhcp3- server (3-seconds-period) with
sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart
during boot process of one client

Gutsy
no problem: You can start and stop dhcpd after few seconds. No freezing!

Hardy
First no problem. But during boot you are able to freeze the dhcpd.

I tried this with a second server. The same bug!

Perhaps there are more users who suffer from the problem.
