I have stated before ...that I like the idea of the project linux

<p>it is perfectly fine that you like Windows and that it receives so much support from hardware vendors.</p>
<p>But this is a list for Xubuntu.</p>
<p>Quite possible that there is hardware, like in your case, that does work on Windows and not on Xubuntu.</p>Just to be clear about it:
<p>The hardware support of whatever device in Windows does not come from Microsoft.<br>The drivers are developed by the hardware suppliers and, when becoming popular enough, are bundled into Windows.</p>
<p>So the first address to complain about lacking hardware support in Xubuntu (or any non-Windows OS) is the hardware supplier.</p>
<p>Ask them why they don't care about your needs enough to write drivers for the OS's you are using.</p>
<p>Even if the hardware you picked up explicitly states that it works on Linux and it doesn't, then you still need to complain to the hardware supplier.<br>Their responsibility.<br>Have them write the drivers. <br>If the quality is any good, the likelihood for the driver being bundled is high.<br></p>
<p>If you do not like how Linux works then why are you using it?</p>
<p>If you want to work the Windows way, stay with Windows. No better Windows than Windows.<br>Or try Apple.</p>
<p><br>Start with checking whether your XYX-thingy explicitly claims to work on Linux (Linux-distros).<br>As opposed to you wanting it or demanding for it to work on Linux.<br></p>
<p>If it doesn't you may just be out of luck.<br></p>
<p>Just because you can plug something into your system doesn't mean it is prepared to talk to it properly or provide it with the information on how to wield its features.</p>
