I've tried several remote desktop applications and found that X2Go
fits my needs quite well.<br>

It's quick and does a good job of viewing a remote computer, at
least on my home network. While ssh -X it pretty good, it doesn't
render some application well, if at all. With X2Go, one can also
have multiple applications open on the remote device.<br>
<br>
Using Xubuntu 16.04 and reverting to the Ubuntu software center, one
finds the X2Go client available.<br>
<br>
On the remote PC, one must also install X2Go server. More info:<br>
