/usr/share, etc. Fortunately that doesn't <font
face="Liberation Sans">happen too often. O<font
face="Liberation Sans">n</font> our
Solaris boxen<font face="Liberation Sans">,
we have stuff <font face="Liberation
Sans">in just about every location<font
face="Liberation Sans"> - wherever
the packager wanted it to go.
Usually the packa<font
face="Liberation Sans">ging tools
keep track of it, but not

There is a BIG difference:
Applications in /opt/ are in ONE subdirectory, whereas in /usr/local/ they
are spread over many subdirectories.
To remove an application under /opt you can simply "rm /opt/$APPLICATION"
This is not possible for a /usr/local/ installation.
