Hi,<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
I usually go bold and run the early development version of the next <br></div><div>
release. Is there anything I should look for in 16.10 Yakkety alpha? <br></div><div>
canonical-kernel-team ppa and xubuntu-dev ppa work fine. Nice to be on <br></div><div>
kernel 4.6.0.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
Thanks<br></div><div>

If you're worried about any problems and issues you really shouldn't run an alpha Release.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
I mean...it's alpha for a reason...<br></div><div>

The obvious thing to look for in a development release is problems :)<br></div><div>
About the only reason I can think of to run yakkety at such an early<br></div><div>
stage is to help find and fix bugs.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
You might want to consider running yakkety in a VM or container, and<br></div><div>
have a regular release as a base. That way you can help with testing,<br></div><div>
have access to the newer packages and use a more stable system for<br></div><div>
everyday tasks.<br></div><div>

As Petter says - look for bugs - and report them :)<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
If you're happy running with the dev version - do it - I'll not argue <br></div><div>
about that.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
I do that - and in fact set yakkety up the day after xenial was released.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
I would though make sure you've either got another yak build running <br></div><div>
behind on updates, or a previous and supported version.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
You'll find that the dev mailing list [1] is where you'll see mails <br></div><div>
about what's going on with the development version.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
You might want to consider actually being in contact with us - it's not <br></div><div>
often that we find someone who's testing dev version outside where we <br></div><div>
normally look :) [2,3]<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>

Hi Kev,<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
Okay no problem. I'm on the list and I'll contribute any bugs or <br></div><div>
quirks. I can dig up another machine and run xenial on it if I have to.<br></div><div>
<br></div><div>
Thanks<br></div><div>
