Previously have used Linux Mint and Manjaro XFCE before and loved them both too. Had questions that I could not get answered about updating config files with Manjaro, and figured that a six month new system upgrade, might work better for me. Mint just felt stale fast. And due to their tinkering with the Ubuntu/Debian core, not all updates to the system are recommended without risking breakage. So decided to move up the chain one step to the Ubuntu gang.<br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:comic sans ms,sans-serif">Don<br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Fri, Sep 4, 2015 at 3:59 PM, Fred Roller <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:fredroller66@gmail.com" target="_blank">fredroller66@gmail.com</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">

+1 To the developers. Burned all my window bridges back in 2005 and
after some trials landed on Xubuntu. I haven't looked back. The
few issues that have come, and they do, just how computers are, the
team has really knocked them down and made a reliable, easy to use
system. I use Xubuntu as a first OS for Linux newbies who are
interested in trying for the first time. Good job!<span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><br>

<div class="gmail_default" style="FONT-FAMILY:comic sans ms,sans-serif">Just a few words of
encouragement to the Xubuntu gang. I
switched back to the Canonical family
of Ubuntu flavors in the past year.
Listened to "Popey" on The Jupiter
Broadcasting's "Linux Unplugged"
podcast and found he give many great
comments about the Ubuntu offerings.
Have tried many systems and find good
in many. <br>
<br>

<div class="gmail_default" style="FONT-FAMILY:comic sans ms,sans-serif">My attempts to work
with Ubuntu Unity were <i>almost</i>
good enough, but found a rigidity and
lack of polish for a system that has
been under development for many
cycles. The other flavors I have
worked with have been Ubuntu-GNOME and
Xubuntu. I love them both, but find
that while Ubuntu-GNOME has plenty of
quality and polish, I find that
Xubuntu has both great polish and
flexibility. When I want to change
the look of something, Xubuntu easily
allows that to happen. <br>
<br>
Hope to stay with Xubuntu for many
cycles and appreciate the effort that
the team does to make it work so
well. I use a desktop and am pleased
to say that there have been no issues
or special problems. The system was
built by a friend who builds and
repairs computers and he let me watch
as he crafted the system. <br>
