Hi Peter! Thank you very much for ur answer but it doesn't solve my issue. I'll describe it in more detail for you here: I have a notebook Packard Bell NAV50, Intel Atom N450 with 1GB RAM. I installed xubuntu 14.04 LTS using a bootable USB, opted for erasing all existing previously installed OS and to encrypt all my data. The installation runned successfully and once finished the installation wizard asked to restart the computer. I restarted it and I came across a blue screen with the xubuntu logo that asked me for the password to continue. Here started the problem as my password was not recognised. I entered that many times that finally the system sent me to a terminal screen, that continue asking me for the password, again I tried a number of times but still was not granting me access. I was completely lost as I have no clue of programming and just the terminal look as an unexplored world to me. I switch off the computer and installing again xubuntu from the USB, but despite having access to the first step of the installation wizard ( I can choose language and select from 4 options: try xubuntu without installing install xubuntu, check for disk deffects, test memory or boot from first hard disk) none of the options work and all of them lead to a black screen that in few seconds restart the system. Its a never ending loop. Could you show me the path out of this, please? I know that there is a small delay, but I've been running Linux on this machine for years, and I've never seen a delay this long before.
