<div><br></div><div>...and I think that brought me back up so that I could login without the loop. My recollection is fuzzy because I've been fussing with a ubuntu server and trying to setup a openvpn for myself- so there's been a lot going on in my mind with different systems.</div>

Probably something is wrong with the ownership of your hidden files. Have a look via ssh.<br>
