lately it seems ureadahead has a problem re-profiling. I noticed
this on my box at some 3.5 kernel and now with 3.13.0 (Trusty):<br>
I blow the pack files away, reboot and I don't see new pack files
being generated: the /var/lib/ureadahead directory stays empty. I
then installed a package that generates a new file in /etc/init.d,
same result, no pack files.<br>
Immediately after logon I ran ps -r and did not see a ureadahead
process :(<br>
<br>
However, sometimes it does regenerate but I could not figure out
when or why (I suddenly did see some unexpectedly new pack files).<br>
running ureadahead after boot from a command line with --force-trace
generates pack files but I don't know how good they are, whether
ureadahead must actually be started earlier.<br>
<br>
Any ideas? Any log files I might look at to find out whether it runs
or if not why not?<br>
<br>
Thanks for your help. I would have emailed the person responsible
for ureadahead but the email for the maintainer listed in launchpad
bounces.....<br>
