<div dir="ltr">To prevent these events is recommended that you format your hard drive with at least 2 partitions: root (/) and User (/ home). I still use a partition "swap" but it seems that this is no longer necessary. So in case you have to reinstall the system at least you do not lose your data or settings of installed programs. I have done updates on my Xubuntu since 12.04 (12.10, 13.04, 13.10 and 14.04), without big problems. Some bugs like missing the directory /media/user or applet climate, but easily fixed. Of all the upgrades the former was the quickest and cleanest. It also shows a single indicator-sound-service process running with no speaker indicator. The team have once again made a release one of the best versions of xfce available. There are a couple of things which I wonder about? - I've found the LTS tends to have many updates in it's second year and apps need updating that it's better to use the newer release. - Bearing that in mind why was the intermediate release update period reduced to 9 months instead of 18. One now has to use each intermediate release.
