I have since kind of fallen in love with this new OS even though it may not cover all the functions my laptop has to offer through windows 7, but that is beside the point. I installed xubuntu 12.04 on my laptop from a live disc given to me by my professor, and so me not thinking didn't realize it was 32 bit. At least I think...I ran the command uname -m in the terminal and it gave back i686 which supposedly means I have a 32 bit OS. Without a doubt, though, I know I can run 64bit I have a 64bit windows 7 and a i7 4700MQ processor. Now my only problem is switching this 32bit OS to a 64bit one. I would think this is as simple as setting up a live usb stick for 12.04 64bit xubuntu, which I would need a few pointers on. However I just want to make sure I am not going to destroy my laptop. So to state the obvious how do I change my 32bit OS to a 64bit OS and is it safe? Thanks for any help Tristan </body> </html>
