Morning all

I am running Xubuntu 13.04 (upgrade from 12.10 when 13.04 first came out) and I am having an issue watching videos.

If I launch Parole and try to play either an mp4 or a wmv format video Parole will just crash.

I installed VLC and if I try to play either of the above two formats I will get the normal sound track but the video player remains black.

The mp4 video was taken on my android tablet and I could watch the video ok with VLC on the tablet, so I am guessing that this is some kind of codec issue but I have no idea what or how to check

Thanks in advance
