I'd like to convert .mkv file to anything else - like maybe
.avi, and what I've found to use is pacpl.
Two questions:
1)after input of -t avi /(and then the Directory-File info),
there is a > and no noticeable HD activity. So, is there
something else to enter at the >?
2)Is there another way(program-wise)to do this that I've not

Hi,
The transmageddon
(click to install) gui should do all you need, it can convert to a
variety of multimedia formats/codecs and is very easy to use. If
that doesn't do what you need, you could have a look at mencoder,
ffmpeg, or even VLC's built-in conversion tools (Under
Media>Convert/Save), there will be a tool in the packages
somewhere that'll do what you need.
