Hello,<br><br>I have installed xubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) on a less computer savvy friend's laptop, and it works well, except that there is no sound at all.<br><br>The laptop is an eMachines M2350 with an AMD Athlon XP-M processor.<br>
(Interestingly, the ubuntu does not start on this machine, so I went to xubuntu).<br><br>I've tried all the basic steps in the Ubuntu SoundTroubleshooting wiki:<br>1) I've turned the sound up using the gnome volume-control and the speakers are not muted.<br>
2) The sound modules appear to be installed.<br>3) The sound card is physically installed and appears to be recognized by the hardware.<br><br>What are the next steps to fix this problem?<br><br>Thanks,<br clear="all"><br>
